The Glory of God

Jesus said…
“Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”
– John 11:40

This verse hangs in our kitchen. Not in the form of a fancy painting — it’s simply scrawled on a scrap of paper and taped to the wall. Early this year, I taped it up at the end of a long, difficult day, desperately needing a constant, visible reminder that God has made us this promise: If you believe, you will see My glory.

We work in a challenging mission field, amidst suffering, poverty and injustice — and sometimes the promise in that verse is hard to grasp. When children suffer and when justice is not swiftly administered and when it seems the church doesn’t care enough, we’re tempted to ask “Why, Lord?”

But instead of asking why, we just get to work. We continue putting one foot in front of the other, we trust in His goodness, and we believe that we will see His glory.

As this year draws to a close, our team has been reflecting on this verse and remembering the many times that we have indeed seen his glory. Here are some of the SixtyFeet highlights from 2012:

Successful J-FASTER sessions and our first intern focused on juvenile justice. – Dozens of children were able to participate in the justice program which resulted in most of them being released sooner.

Land purchased, survey completed and final building plans being prepared by EMI.
(See a few proposed designs below.) We are incredibly excited about how this property will be used in furthering the Gospel and training up those who will one day be in positions of leadership in their country as well as in their own homes. This will be a big undertaking, and one which we are praying many will come along side us to help support financially. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we reveal more details about this long-term project. To help us toward this goal, you can Give Here (and get a free Sixty Feet sticker).

The first round of graduates from our sponsorship program – We had the honor to witness nearly a dozen individuals who were part of our vocational sponsorship receive their certificates and enter the workforce.

Witnessing the baptism of a formerly imprisoned child – What more can you say about this? It was awesome.

Passion Kampala – What a joy to be able to take over 2 dozen of our sponsored kids to the Passion conference in Kampala

And many more, including:
Mission trips, Accreditation by the ECFA, Reuniting children with their families through our sponsorship program, and Medical Miracles like we wrote about here.

And as this year draws to a close, we ask that you prayerfully consider SixtyFeet in your year-end giving. We do need your prayers and financial support in order to continue this work through 2013 and beyond. The needs are big but our God is bigger — and all who believe will see His glory.

My husband Clarence and I, recommend 60 Feet to be seriously considered in your giving….they are real, honest , and always want to be in line with the will of GOD.
    1 Corinthians 10:31
All for the Glory of God……60 feet is about this, 60 Feet is about following the will of our King.
    Have a Blessed Thanksgiving.

Later on, this same year, we saw four more baptisms of formerly imprisoned children. Praise God!
